Arrival

You never know what to expect when bringing your new friend home. You might feel insecure because you might never had a cat before. But I think that the main reason is.... Cats are all diferent.

Yes, they are. For those who make statements about cats like if all cats are the same... Well, I think is like saying all Chinese people know kung fu or are great with maths 😞.

Cats come with all kind of personalities, tastes and colours. Of course they are cats and they have things in common, but you should always have in mind that they are not all the same😽😼😾🙀.

From the moment they are born we can start spoting their personalities; outgoing, shy, active, calm... When you see them groing up you can tell how different they are. But they are cats and they are some things you can do to prepare your home -and yourself- for the great arrival.

1 - Provide a confortable and secure place.

So there is an statement that can fit most cats; they are cautios and do not like big changes.

Prepare a nice place where your new friend can be introduced little by little into the new house.

The room should have food and water -obviously-. A litter box, as far as possible from the food and water -nobody likes eathing next where you pee, aght- And a place to hide. Something like a confy bed, a box or even a cat carrier. Your new fellow will probably want to hide from this new and strange world, observe it from a safe place.

2 - Give them time.

This is one of the most important things to start well with your new fried. You need to give time to the cat to observe and understand the new changes in his or her life. Something that can stress a lot to cats in new homes is to force them to do something you want but actually they don´t. I know, you are excited and want to do a lot of things with your furry friend. Hold your self!🙆

Give them time and they will come out when they feel ready. This will start creating a bond of trust and respect between you and the cat.

You could for example, sit in the same room, reading a book or doing something for yourslef. Sometimes you can look at the creature and give him or her a talk with a nice and soft voice. The cat can see you, smell you and hear you. Most important, can see you are not dangerous. This is maybe one of the best ways to approach a very scared cat🙀🙀🙀🙀.

I believe this is one of the most important things I can tell to anyone who want to have a cat. When you have a cat you are having a relationship, and relationships are based on respect and love. When you give these to your cat, they will give it back to you💖. When you start to impose things they don´t really want, they will feel unconfortable and want to be away, avoid you. Is important to respect what the cat wants and is doing. I wouldn´t advice to -for example- hold your cat against his or her will in order to take a picture. Or hold the cat because you cant to hug her or him. I´ve seen this and the result is the cat want to be away from that person and in extreme cases, dislike you👹.

Let´s say that having a cat is like having a friendship. You are not going to force your friend to do all the things you want when you want. That would be having more like an slave. Well if you do those things, you might have an issue there...💁

So that is the reason why you are not going to see me saying the word "pet" or "owner". I really dislike those terms. I don´t own my cats in the same whay a mother doesn´t own her children.

Thanks a lot for reading! 😊Please feel free to ask anything about... Anything at all. I hope you liked this post and find it useful!😄
